Possibly the oldest apple variety of Latvian origin. The fruits are medium-sized, red-yellow with dark red stripes. They are juicy, with a fine texture and a distinctive aroma and sweet-sour flavor. The apple tree prefers fertile soils; in unsuitable garden locations, it may produce poorly and be susceptible to canker.
